Another Ride On for Zwift

Apart from the fact that it’s fun, it helps keep/get me fit and my FTP has gone through the roof, here’s another reason Why I Love Zwift to add to those here, You get to ride with monument-winning Olympic and World Tour Champions.

I logged on tonight (Sarah had just done her final 40k for the week and it was my turn) to find that a group ride had just started with the ZSun crew. Now these guys ride for fun at a nice relaxed pace, usually. However tonight they were joined by a certain Anna van der Breggen. That’s right, we all shared a road with Anna who, just to remind folks, won the following in the last 2 years:

  • Olympic Gold (in that memorable Road Race)
  • Olympic Bronze (time trial)
  • European Road Race Championships
  • Omloop van de IJsseldelt
  • La Flèche Wallonne
  • UCI Women’s World Tour
  • Giro Rosa
  • Tour of California
  • Amstel gold Race
  • La Flèche Wallonne
  • Liège–Bastogne–Liège

And to cap all of those achievements, she joined a Sunday night group pootle around London on Zwift. Personally, I think that’s pretty cool of her.

I think the pace was hotter than their usual rides, as the first 10 minutes were full of chat about being spat out the back and moaning. Personally, I think everyone was probably trying to impress her! After that it settled to a leisurely 2.5W/Kg and rolled for 90 minutes and a whole bunch of people got to say they’ve shared the road with an Olympic Champion. Ride On!
